Energy Drink In Nigeria
Energy drinks seem to make a way for themselves in the Nigerian market today. They are non-alcoholic beverages that are said to serve as an extra energy boost, also contain compounds that stimulate the body and mind, and are offered functional benefits such as physical and mental stimulation.
The functionality of an energy drink is commonly attributed to specific ingredients such as caffeine, glucose, and taurine. Looking ahead, projections indicate that the Energy & Sports Drinks sector will generate a revenue of US$3.45bn in 2023. Furthermore, the market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 15.34% between 2023 and 2027, as per Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) estimates.
Monster Energy Drink Product Review
Amongst the numerous energy drink brands we have in Nigeria, we will be reviewing the Monster energy drink. The brand, “Monster” was chosen to represent the drink’s ability to provide a boost of energy, similar to how a monster might be depicted as having superhuman strength. The name is intended to convey the idea that the drink will give you an extra boost of energy to tackle whatever challenges that come your way. An interesting fact to note is that this drink has a unique logo that resembles the claws of a monster trying to get out of the can.
The Monster Energy Drink was made by Hansen Natural Company, now Monster Beverage Corporation in April 2002. Later on, the brand was introduced in the Nigerian market in September 2015. Additionally, the drink is available in a variety of flavors. However, for the purpose of this review, we will be considering the original Green Monster Energy Drink and the Monster Zero Ultra Flavour.
Monster Zero Ultra
The White Monster energy drink, which is also known as Monster Zero Ultra, stands out from other Monster Energy Drink flavors as it contains 0% sugar and 0 grams of fat. Additionally, it has a slightly less sweet taste but is fully loaded with Monster energy. On the other hand, the original Green Monster energy drink has 160 milligrams of caffeine and 210 calories, which is worth noting. However, it is important to mention that it is not recommended for children, pregnant or lactating women, and people sensitive to caffeine.
The sale of energy drinks such as Monster, which contains both caffeine and ginseng, has been banned in some countries due to serious health issues associated with their consumption. Excessive consumption of such energy drinks can lead to serious health issues. It is worth noting that Monster energy drink does not contain alcohol and should be consumed at room temperature, not too cold or too warm.
